Introducing Color-Matched Lower Fairings for 23.5+ Harley Touring Models
If you do a lot of long-distance riding, you’re either considering adding Harley lower fairings to your motorcycle or you already have them installed on your bike. Whether you have them or not, and you’re the proud owner of a 23.5-later Harley Touring model, we now have color matched lower fairings that will provide unmatched comfort, amazing looks, and DIY installation. In this article, we’ll introduce you to our lower fairings, cover the benefits of lower fairings, and help you choose the right fairings for your bike and get them installed.
Unfamiliar with lower fairings? Simply put, they are panels/deflectors that install on the lower part of the front end of your motorcycle. Lower fairings for Harley Touring models do a lot for you and your bike with functional and aesthetic benefits that far outweigh the investment, which we’ll discuss later.
Most of you already know that Harley did some significant redesigns on the 23.5+ Touring models, including the CVO Road Glide and Street Glide models. We purposefully designed these lower fairings for these models to maximize the benefits, the ease of installation, and to look amazing. So, if you’ve been searching for Harley Touring upgrades to enhance both style and your riding experience, look no further.
What Changed with '23.5-Later Harley Touring Models?
Harley made significant upgrades to these models with the intent of rolling out these changes to more models. Changes include updates to the engine, like adding the Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 powertrain, more power/torque and new liquid-cooled cylinder heads. There are also upgrades to audio, adding Apple CarPlay and HomeLink technologies, and better Wi-Fi. But the most visible change is to the design, which includes redesigned fairings, fuel tank, and saddlebags. You can see there’s a less rounded design and more defined body lines on these newer models.
With this new design, it means that older fairings simply won’t fit without a significant retrofitting of the frame. Not a good idea. So, we designed lower fairings that integrate seamlessly with the new design and offer even more than OEM lower fairings. And of course, they are guaranteed to color-match. To be clear, Harley Davidson offers lower fairings for the ‘23.5 and up models but their fairings require you to get a different crashbar to install the Harley lowers, which adds cost and effort to a DIY install. Our design allows you to mount the lowers directly onto the stock crashbar, which makes the installation much easier and you can still add more accessories to your stock crashbar like our spoiler fairing kit.
From a fitment perspective, Advanblack lower fairings only work with Street Glide, Road Glide, Ultra and others with the updated design and those that have the chopped crash bar. They will not fit CVO Road Glide ST models.
Benefits of Color-Matched Lower Fairings
From a utility perspective, lower fairings deflect wind/weather, making your bike more comfortable on long drives. This also helps protect you and your bike from road debris, bugs, and harsher weather you may have to endure for a while, like hail or other frozen precipitation.
Lower fairings also reduce wind drag, which reduces noise and can even improve your gas mileage. Lastly lower fairings can deflect engine heat away from you and your passengers. On a hot day, this can make a big difference. Lower fairings also give you more storage space, like having a big glove compartment on your bike. And with our new lower fairings, you can swap out the lid with a 6.5” or 8” speaker lids to enhance your road tunes.
As for the aesthetics, they just look cool. They perfectly match the OEM style and paint color and enhance the front-end styling of your bike. Right now, there may be no better Harley Touring upgrade than our lower fairings for both eye-candy and actual utility. It’s form and function at its best.
Choosing the Right Lower Fairings for Your Harley
First, make sure you order the right color. We guarantee our color-matching parts, but it’s up to you to tell us the right color. If you don’t know it or can’t find it, just call Harley Davidson with your VIN and they’ll tell you the paint color. The paint color will also tell us if you have a gloss or matte finish, which is important. Also, when you order, you’ll have to specify whether you need the installation bracket for the Road Glide or Street Glide, as it is crucial for the installation.
That said, you will need to know exactly which Road Glide or Street Glide you have, as these lower fairings will not fit every 23.5+ model. Again, the VIN will help HD tell you all the information you need to know to get the order right. We are always available to help, so just give us a call at (909) 784-1791.
You also have some additional Harley accessories to consider, like speaker lids, which you can add to your order directly on our website. Performance air ducts and LED light kits will also be available soon.
Installation Tips & Fitment Guidance
Again, these lower fairings are specific to ‘23.5-later Road Glide and Street Glide models with a chopped crash bar and will not fit CVO Road Glide ST models. Once you get your lower fairings ordered, you can expect everything you need to get them installed on your bike, including custom brackets.
The installation process is not too difficult, but you will need some recommended tools. First, you’ll need a Torx screwdriver and a selection of bits. We also recommend you have a car dashboard removal tool. The reason is that if you have a Road Glide, you will have to remove the upper fairing, which requires prying on certain pieces. The car dash tool makes this easier and you’ll be less likely to damage the parts you have to remove. We also recommend having a blanket set up to place removed parts and also to cover and protect your front fender. If you’re a Street Glide owner, the installation is way easier, as the upper fairing does not have to be removed.
Having an extender for your Torx screwdriver is also helpful if you have larger hands. The space for the installation of two bolts is tight, so approaching it from the other side of your bike with an extender works really well. You just have to be extra careful when you start screwing in the bolt to ensure you don’t cross-thread it.
This install will take you a couple of hours or more, especially if you have speaker pods to wire. For more tips and insight to a DIY install, check out this super helpful installation video.
